Wagering on a horse race can appear complicated with changing odds, multipliers, and bet types, but it's simpler than it looks.

How To Wager:
Every race in Photo Finish Live is open to wagering. Once the registration window for a race closes, the betting window opens. Players may place a wager on any horse with the Bet button or view all of the wager pools by clicking the Wagers tab.

Once you click the Bet button a popup will appear. You can select a bet type from the dropdown in the upper left, and you can input a wager amount on the upper right. Below these fields you can see a scrolling section of all the horses in the race. Each horse displays its current Multiplier and Morning Line Odds in addition to its name and number. Simply select a horse and submit a wager. You'll be prompted with an opportunity to place additional wagers once the first one submits.

Wager Types
In Photo Finish Live there are three types of wager you can place:
  1. Win - You bet that this horse will come first in the race.
  2. Place - You bet that this horse will come first or second in the race.
  3. Show - You bet that this horse will come first, second, or third in the race.
Each wager has a separate pool. You always wager against the other people placing the same type of bet.

Multiplier (The Top Number):
Each horse  has a multiplier from x1 to x100 displayed next to it (or a -x-). This number represents how much a winning wager on the horse is worth at that moment. An  -x- showing means that too few wagers have been placed to calculate a multiplier.

Here's what you need to know about the multiplier:
  1. It shows you the return for a Win Type bet. As in, if you bet that this horse will win the race and it does, this is the return multiplier.
  2. Every wager placed changes the multipliers for all horses. This is because the pool you can win is based on the wagers place on the other horses. The multiplier locks in after betting closes.
Morning Line Odds (M/L):
Morning Line Odds are a special bit of help for players when they come in to wagering. They are not a predication of the winner. They are an AI generated prediction of How Players Will Bet.

Before the race begins, the odds maker looks over the past performances of the horses and guesses, based on those results who it think people will bet on. The system only has public information about the horses, so the Morning Line Odds for a horse get more accurate as a horse runs more races.
